Hypnotherapy & Mindfulness, Weybridge
Using Hypnotherapy or Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapies MCBT or a combination of both therapies, we can help you to reduce your anxiety, giving you the tools to effectively manage any feelings associated with fear or stress in the future. With Hypnotherapy we are working with your unconscious/subconscious mind (the hard drive of your computer), and with Mindfulness we are working with your conscious mind to give you control of your thoughts, feelings and emotions.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy uses a light hypnotic state to work with your unconscious/subconscious mind to help you to process, manage and reduce your levels of anxiety or stress.
Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction
MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) is usually an eight session (usually weekly) run as a group or for individuals that teaches Mindfulness techniques. These techniques include Body Scan, sitting and walking meditations. The aim is to give you enable and empower you to disconnect from negative thoughts and associated feelings.
We work with clients suffering from a range of anxieties including the following :
General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) refers to a condition whereby the sufferer is anxious about a wide range of situations rather than by one specific situation or event. People with GAD feel anxious most days and would often struggle to remember the last time they felt relaxed. Symptoms may include trouble concentrating, a constant feeling of restlessness, accompanied by dizziness and/or rapid heartbeat.
Social Anxiety is more than shyness. Its an intense fear that doesn’t go away and effects everyday activities, self confidence, relationships and work or school life. Many people occasionally worry about social situations, but someone with social anxiety feels overly worried before, during and after them. Symptoms may include sweating, trembling or a pounding heart (palpitations).
Performance Anxiety is not the same as being nervous. It can be a dibillitating condition that gets in the way of performing at ones best. In many cases it can then be very difficult to make a presentation, give a speech, perform in a concert or take an exam. it may also include sexual performance such erectile disfunction, premeture ejaculation or being unable to orgasm.
Phobias and Fears can be catergorised as irrational fears of particular animals, objects or situations.
Common examples of phobias include :
Animal phobias – such as dogs, spiders and snakes
Environmental phobias – such as heights, deep water and germs
Situational phobias – such as visiting the dentist or flying
Bodily phobias – such as blood, vomit or having injections
Symptoms associated with phobias fall in in line with other anxiety disorders. Someone with a phobia of flying for example, will undergo the same feelings and symptoms, physical and mental, of panic in common with other anxieties, – social anxiety, GAD etc.
TIR (Traumatic Incident Reduction) for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
Traumatic Incident Reduction is a therapy developed to process and resolve Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and all other forms of trauma. It was originally use with combat veterans, and has since been found to be an effective therapy for anyone suffering from trauma or PTSD.
TIR is a quick and effective therapy that can often resolve a single traumatic event in a single session. I use TIR with clients suffering from Domestic violence, physical, emotional and sexual abuse as a child/adult or both as well as victims of crime. I also use it for those who have suffered as a result of accidents, injury, terrorism or other life changing events.
