“A short while back, I attended 8 of the group sessions of Mindfulness meditation and practice that Adrian held in Carshalton – initially very sceptical of the likelihood of anything at all helping me to calm down in daily stressful situations. However – over the weekly meetings practicing Adrian’s very achievable techniques to thinking, along with his bodyscan breathing meditation – suddenly! I realize I’m calmer! and not getting wound up by petty things. I’m thinking about what I’m DOING, rather than my mind racing ahead all the time. It’s like a big weight of frustration and annoyance has been lifted off me and whisked away! Now I’m noticing all the moment by moment things in day to day life, that actually MAKE my life. You can reduce your stress and anxiety with Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction, an 8 session group (but can be individual) stress reduction programme.

The course then runs every Tuesday for the following 7 weeks at the same time.

Description This is an eight session Stress Reduction Programme using a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and meditation to focus your thoughts / mind on the present. This stops negative thinking and prevents you from getting stressed. It will also reduce any stress you have at present.

The background to Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction

Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction as developed by Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn has been running since 1979.

Dealing with chronic tension and anxiety that continually drives our lives on automatic pilot. This stress is only compounded when we are faced with a serious medical condition, with chronic pain or a chronic disease. The only way we have of influencing the future is to own the present, however we find it. Then we just might finds ways to live the life that is actually ours to live.
