Treatment for fear of flying
| This type of phobia involves a fear that the plane will crash. Alternatively, it can involve a fear that the cabin will de-pressurize, causing you to asphyxiate (suffocate, unable to breathe). More recently, phobias about planes being hijacked or bombed have become common. |
When flying, you may have a panic attack. Otherwise you have no history of panic disorder or agoraphobia. Fear of flying an extremely common phobia. Approximately 10% of people will not fly at all, while an additional 20% experiences considerable anxiety while flying.
Just think what it would be like to be a cool, calm and confident flyer, travelling all over the world to wherever you wish. With the help of hypnotherapy you will become exactly that – a confident flyer.
It's no surprise that many people have this fear of flying. When we were at school we were taught that even young birds that are born with wings and can naturally fly are nervous and are pushed out of the next by their mothers. We on the other hand, don't have wings, our first and natural instinct is to walk, therefore it's no surprise that some of us are fearful of a great huge machine travelling many miles up and going so very fast, and many hundred miles per hour!
We can suffer images that upset us that are shown in the press and TV which add to our fear. With this in mind, it's not too difficult to understand why people become so fearful of flying. Think – because of flying is an entirely unconscious reaction based upon our thoughts/beliefs, in other words our conditioning – if we could control it with our mind, we would.
With the help of hypnosis you are shown how to overcome your fear of flying and turn you into the type of confident flyer you wish to be. Hypnosis helps focuses on retraining your unconscious mind to accept flying in a more relaxed way. Imagine, just imagine that the thought of flying no longer holds any fear or scares you, but rather something you will really enjoy.
This is because through hypnosis the conscious mind is bypassed and thus creates an alternative state of consciousness in which your attention is focused away from present reality, i.e. like reading a book or daydreaming etc., and will help change your conditioned responses and learnt behaviours.
