John Kabat-Zin an American scientist created a programme called mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) which teaches meditation without any religious language or icongraphy. He tested his course scientifically, proving it could help with everything from pain to psoriasis. Above all, he showed that MBSR can indeed reduce stress.
