Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction is a group-based Programme developed by Dr John Kabat-Zinn and colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre in 1979 for clients with an extensive range of physical and mental health problems.
It is an eight session usually one session per week programme that is very prescriptive. Every session is planed out with set aims, goals and homework.

The background to Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction
Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction as developed by Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn has been running since 1979.
Dealing with chronic tension and anxiety that continually drives our lives on automatic pilot. This stress is only compounded when we are faced with a serious medical condition, with chronic pain or a chronic disease. The only way we have of influencing the future is to own the present, however we find it. Then we just might finds ways to live the life that is actually ours to live.
John Kabat-Zin an American scientist created a programme called Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) which teaches meditation without any religious language or iconography. He tested his course scientifically, proving it could help with everything from pain to psoriasis. Above all, he showed that MBSR can indeed reduce stress.
