Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction is a group-based Programme developed by Dr John Kabat-Zinn and colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre in 1979 for clients with an extensive range of physical and mental health problems.
It is an eight session usually one session per week programme that is very prescriptive. Every session is planed out with set aims, goals and homework.

The background to Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction
Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction as developed by Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn has been running since 1979.
Dealing with chronic tension and anxiety that continually drives our lives on automatic pilot. This stress is only compounded when we are faced with a serious medical condition, with chronic pain or a chronic disease. The only way we have of influencing the future is to own the present, however we find it. Then we just might finds ways to live the life that is actually ours to live.
John Kabat-Zin an American scientist created a programme called Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) which teaches meditation without any religious language or iconography. He tested his course scientifically, proving it could help with everything from pain to psoriasis. Above all, he showed that MBSR can indeed reduce stress.

I was going through a rough patch and was constantly having headaches and feeling anxious about general day to day activities. My doctor recommended I do therapy. I came across Adrian and his company who offered hypnotherapy CBT. It was different and not something I was familiar with. However the reviews and methods that people… spoke of after going to him left me intrigued. The sessions focused on wellbeing and hypnotherapy. This allowed me to literally assess my normal day to day activities and approach things differently and positively. Each session Adrian gave me a activity to do for the following week. Things such as breathing techniques and mindfulness activities.

I saw Adrian to find a remedy for a debilitating combination of Insomnia aand Anxiety. I have been seeing Adrian for mindfulness and hypnotherapy since April 2018. He has been a wonderful help and helped me reduce my anxiety levels and sleep better. “A short while back, I attended 8 of the group sessions of Mindfulness meditation and practice that Adrian held in Carshalton – initially very sceptical of the likelihood of anything at all helping me to calm down in daily stressful situations. However – over the weekly meetings practicing Adrian’s very achievable techniques to thinking, along… with his bodyscan breathing meditation – suddenly!
