TIR was developed to resolve most of the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other aftereffects of trauma. It can be a very quick (two or three sessions) and effective treatment for a single or several traumatic incidents and is elegant in its simplicity.

Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) is a simple technique which has proven to be very effective in addressing and resolving the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other unwanted affects of trauma (physical, emotional, mental injury, hurt or harm).

The theory of Traumatic Incident Reduction is based on the concept that our past traumas retain their emotional charge (power over us) and continue to have a negative, harmful or damaging effect on us because we have not dealt with confronted or processed them.

Emotional pain like physical pain serves a useful purpose: it lets us know that there is something we need to deal with.

Who may want Traumatic Incident Reduction?

When something happens that is physically or emotionally painful, we have two alternatives. One alternative is to deal with (confront) that pain fully, feeling the pain or the second alternative is to block, bury or deny it. With the first alternative, feeling and dealing with the pain (trauma) we are able to accept and come to terms with it. This allows the incident to become a past incident something that we experienced, dealt with and has become an old memory. However in the second alternative we repress the traumatic (painful) incident. We don’t feel it, deal with it so it continues to exist as ongoing, unfinished business. As negative energy it will continue to cause negative effects.

The most obvious candidates for Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) are people who have survived any trauma or major loss, or who exhibit any symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
