The aim is that being mindful each day, concentrating in the present moment, the here and now we stop ourselves from ruminating, dwelling on, rehashing past events or worrying about, creating anxiety, stress, negative thoughts, feelings and emotions about possible future events. To give us a conscious control of what we think, feel and act. To stop being stuck in our automatic pilot of thinking and being.
You would be taught formal Mindfulness meditations including the Body Scan, Sitting/Breathing Meditation and Walking Mediation as well as informal Mindfulness techniques.
Mindfulness has been practiced by Buddhists for over 2,000 years and Mindfulness for Depression, Anxiety a better life has become very popular and trendy over the last few years but you will not receive MBSR at you nearest Buddhist temple or on any Mindfulness course you see advertised.
